There are 42 independent one or two bedroom apartments, some with a utility room, in the complex. They all have a contemporary, fresh interior design and provide easy flow and convenient access to amenities. The apartments all feature state-of-the-art Fisher & Paykel kitchen appliances.
The guiding principle for 139 On Union is to provide older people the opportunity to maintain their independence and live with dignity and safety in their own home whilst knowing that support and nursing care is available if required.
While there is a rest home and hospital on the grounds, the apartments have been designed to allow for extensive nursing care if needed. This means apartment owners who might, in the future, need additional care would, in all likelihood, receive that care in their own apartment.
“We have internal access from the home and hospital to the 139 0n Union apartments which makes it very easy for everyone,” says chief executive Val Sugrue. “Apartment owners are, of course, welcome to join in all the social activities organised by Howick Baptist Healthcare, but they also have their own social coordinator and a mini bus available to take them shopping and on outings.”
