Supporting seniors to age well and live fully
For nearly 50 years, we’ve cared for older people in the Howick community. From complex care to supporting those living at home, we’re committed to helping seniors enjoy fulfilling lives.
Care that’s guided by purpose
Our vision
To ensure older people in our community have the knowledge, care and support they require to enjoy fuller lives, regardless of their circumstances.
Our mission
Guided by purpose, not profit, we aim to create opportunities for older people to age well and live fully, through homes, care, community and advocacy.
Our motivation
As a faith-based organisation, we are motivated by the compassion, love and justice demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
Our values
- Aroha Compassion – We put caring for people first
- Manākitanga Hospitality – We create an atmosphere of love, open hospitality, warmth and peace in each and every interaction
- Whakaute Respect – We treat others as we would like to be treated
- Kaitiakitanga Stewardship – We manage resources to ensure service continuity and innovation
- Ngakau Pono Integrity – We do what we say we will
Our approach
Here to care, here to make a difference.
Today, accessing quality aged care in New Zealand is becoming more and more difficult. With an ageing population and increasingly complex care needs, many seniors are struggling to find the support they require.
That’s why our approach is to meet all the needs of seniors through our four pillars of care:
Better care for all seniors – We aim to provide older people with access to affordable, high-quality senior care across the communities we serve, regardless of their circumstances.
Healthy, connected communities – We look for innovative and affordable ways to help older people in our community to remain active, engaged, connected, and supported.
Advocacy to help seniors age well – We’re on a mission to break down barriers and ensure that seniors have the resources and support they need to lead fulfilling, meaningful lives.
Our commitment to Te Tiriti
HBH is dedicated to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and embracing Aotearoa New Zealand’s multicultural society. We have also developed Hauora Māori (Māori wellness) standards to better meet the cultural needs of Māori in our aged care homes and the wider community.
A visionary philosophy of care
HBH is proud to be one of two fully registered Eden Alternative® homes in Auckland. The Eden Alternative® is a philosophy that rethinks residential care by placing the needs, desires and wellbeing of older people at the heart of everything we do.
An enduring history of care
Since we first opened our doors as Howick Baptist Healthcare in 1977, we’ve continued to grow and evolve our services to deliver on our mission of enabling more older people in our community to age well and live fully.
