COVID-19 Update: RAT test required before entry to all HBH facilities

9 March, 2022

Dear Families and Friends

RAT test required before entry to all HBH facilities

Effective immediately, we will now be providing and assisting with RAT testing to all visitors to our facilities. With the very high number of cases in the community and the likelihood of undetected and asymptomatic positive cases being high as well, we want to be extra cautious. Other care facilities who have started RAT testing visitors have picked up positive cases in visitors.

RAT testing takes about 15 minutes, so please arrive  at least 15 minutes before your visiting appointment.

The RAT tests will be provided at the front entrance of the hospital.

RAT tests must be done prior to entry, not the day before.

RAT testing is painless and easy to self-administer. You will need to wait the 15 minutes for the test results, before entering. Obviously any positive test will mean you are unable to visit.

Thank you for your co-operation with this extra safety precaution, and please be patient if there is a wait to be tested.

Other visiting rules must still be followed: mask wearing, visiting in rooms only, ventilation (windows open where possible), social distancing and 30 minute visits.

Sale community open to book a visit as from Wednesday 9th

The DHB has today allowed us to open up Sale community again as there have been no cases of Covid amongst the residents or staff since the initial staff case was detected.  The whole community has been sanitised.

Please book via the visiting web site, click here.  Remember there are only enough spaces for 1 visit per resident per week.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation and patience.
